Though there were many houses that would qualify as significant in any American City, in order to qualify for the San Antonio House category, a house had to pass two tests. First, that it must contain at least 2 of the following: Local Materials, such as limestone or regional brick; Local Architect, who had to produce work would be integral to the city’s identity; and a Local Craftsman, producing work that is so iconic to the region that it stands on it’s own merit. Second, it had to pass a visceral test to look like a house that could only exist in the city of San Antonio.
